The Battle of Okinawa
The Battle of Okinawa, codenamed Operation Iceberg took place in an eighty-two day period. The battle began on April 1, 1945 and ended on June 22, 1945. The battle took place in Ryukyu Islands of Okinawa. It was described as a very violent battle, and was the largest amphibian to land invasion in the Pacific theater of World War II. The Americans planned to defeat the rest of the Japanese navy and take control of the airstrip on the island. The airstrip would allow for the planes to bomb the nearby country of Japan easily and efficiently. The island was also a key priority for the United States in the planned, Operation Downfall, which was a planned invasion of the Japanese mainland. The Battle of Okinawa was not only fought on land, but at sea and in the air. The United States Navy was shelling the island and also fighting off enemy aircraft. It was one of the first times that the Japanese fighter pilots used the Kamikaze option heavily, the United States Navy suffered the most casualties in this battle than any other. The Americans lost roughly 5,000 troops while the Japanese lost about 107,000 troops in the Battle of Okinawa. By the end of the eighty-two day battle the Americans declared the island secure.

WWII Propaganda Poster
Propaganda was heavily used in the United States not only as a form of rallying citizens to unite and destroy a common enemy but also to cut back on supplies to the troops had more. The purpose of this poster is to influence people to start carpooling and saving gasoline. Hitler represents all that is evil and it is trying to get the point across that driving alone is hurting the United States Military which helps the Nazis. So if you do not support the war effort on carpooling and saving supplies. The audience intended for the propaganda poster is for people that are old enough to drive. The point behind this poster is to target people old enough to drive and try and make them consider carpooling to save resources. The poster does a good job because it uses a sort of guilt trip to persuade the reader that if he is not carpooling he is helping out Hitler.

Top 5 Causes of WWII
(Top 5 Causes of WWII)
Pearl Harbor - Pearl Harbor was the direct cause which caused the United States to go to war with the country of Japan. The Japanese did a surprise attack on the United States Naval base located in Hawaii. The attack took place in the early morning of December the 7th in 1941.
Invasion of Poland - The invasion of Poland was done by the Nazi Army and it angered the country of France and Great Britain which eventually was the main beginning of World War II in the European theater.
Supporting of Britain - The United States did not want to join a war like many other countries previous to World War II, but when war broke out less than 25 years later in Europe, America did not immediately go to war. For the United States they wanted to remain out of the war by isolationism. As the war raged on, the United States slowly started to help out the British with weapons and trading military boats for outposts in South America. This so called supporting of the British military further angered Hitler and the Nazis.
Act of Appeasement - The Act of Appeasement that took place in World War II, was shortly after World War I, when the British and other European nations slowly condoned some of Germany's expansions. They condoned most of this because it was shortly after the First World War and many people did not want to experience the harsh realities of war so soon. But since the countries of Europe allowed the Germans to slowly grow they became more powerful which gave them the ability to start conquering countries such as Poland.

World War I on the Home Front
Propaganda is everywhere, you cannot go anywhere without seeing one of George Creel's propaganda posters. The posters usually depict the atrocities that those horrible Germans' cause over in Europe. The posters and billboards significantly rally the men and women of all ages to support the United States against the Devilish German people during this Great War. There is not a single Monday in which I can go outside and not hear people reinforcing "Meatless Mondays" and that goes the same with "Wheat-less Wednesdays". This voluntary cutback on the foods and materials that we all so love, in effort of the support of our troops is such a privilege. Another sight that would be unusual before the war, but is a common occurrence now is the "four minute men" that were sent out by George Creel. These so called "four minute men" are long-winded speakers that can rally the citizens of this great land. I can even admit that these men can enlighten and can rally up citizens to gather for this noble cause. The supreme court ruled in Schenck v. United States, a person can be denied the right of free speech during times of war.

"Neutral or Fight?"
World War I was a bloody and terrible war, but I believe that the introduction of the United States of America was necessary to the war. Without the introduction of the United States of America, the war might have raged on longer, and caused many more causalities. I personally believe that the war would have been unnecessary if the war was fought over Uncontrolled Submarine Warfare primarily. The fact is that one of the major reasons was the killing of so many innocent people in enemy countries. When German invaded the neutral country of Belgium and slaughtered thousands of innocent people and deported others to Germany to work in their factories is not only a violation of war but also inhumane. The United States had no other option to go to war, especially when so many people are getting killed over nothing. Standing around and doing nothing makes a country just as guilty as the countries that are committing the horrible atrocities of war. The United States of America had no other choice to join the war effort in World War I.
